Following The Royal Ballet & Opera’s season announcement for 2026/27…

Lauren Young makes her debut at the Royal Opera House as Emily in Philip Venables’ operatic adaptation of Sarah Kane’s explosive 4.48 Psychosis, staged by Ted Huffman. She is joined by former Jette Park Artist, Veena Akama-Makia as Clare.

Alison Kettlewell and Wyn Pencarreg understudy Rosie Aldridge as Kabanicha and Clive Bayley as Dikoj in Richard Jones’ production of Káťa Kabanová.

Harry Nicoll returns to the Royal Opera House as First Priest in Sir David McVicar’s much loved production of Die Zauberflöte, he is joined by Wyn Pencarreg as Second Priest making is debut in this production. Performances are conducted by Marie Jacquot.

Wyn returns later in the season as Alcindoro in Richard Jones’ production of La bohème, conducted by Lorenzo Passerini.

Alison Kettlewell understudies Catherine Wyn-Rogers as Auntie in the first revival of Deborah Warner’s production of Peter Grimes, conducted by Jakub Hrůša.

Rhonda Browne and Alison Kettlewell make their their debuts at the Royal Opera House as Filipyevna and Madame Larina in Ted Huffman’s new production of Eugene Onegin, conducted by Henrik Nánasi.

They also perform Schwertleite and Rossweisse in Die Walküre, the second instalment of Barrie Kosky’s new Ring Cycle, conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano.

Alison will also understudy Karita Matilla as Kostelnička in the first revival of Claus Guth’s production of Jenůfa.

Simon Wilding understudies the roles of Luther and Crespel in Damiano Michieletto’s new production of Les contes d’Hoffmann.

Ailish Tynan performs Christine in the world premiere of Mark-Anthony Turnage’s opera, Festen, based on the 1998 Danish film of the same name, directed by Richard Jones and conducted by Edward Gardner. 

Wyn Pencarreg returns as Alcindoro in Richard Jones’ production of La bohème, conducted by Speranza Scappucci.

Claire Wild returns to revive her role as Mother / Baba Yaga in the Olivier-award winning Wolf Witch Giant Fairy, with Little Bulb Theatre.

Wyn Pencarreg revives the role of Alcindoro in Richard Jones’ production of La bohème, conducted by Keri-Lynn Wilson.

Rhonda Browne understudies the role of Erda in Barrie Kosky’s new production of Das Rheingold.

performs First Lady and Harry Nicoll performs First Priest in this revival of Sir David McVicar’s classic production, conducted by Maxim Emelyanychev.

Ailish Tynan performs Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia, a revival of the 2005 production by Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier, conducted by Rafael Payere.

With rehearsals for Welsh National Opera’s season only a few weeks away we are delighted to have several artists working on these productions.

Robyn Lyn Evans and Wyn Pencarreg appear in the third opera in David Pountney’s Verdi trilogy, Les vêpres siciliennes, Robyn performs Daniéli and Mainfroid, whilst covering Henri, and Wyn performs Le Sire de Béthune.

Richard Roberts will make his WNO debut as Don Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro.

Additionally, covers include Robyn as Il Duca and Claire Wild as Gilda in Rigoletto, with Wyn covering Escamillo in Carmen and Harašta in The Cunning Little Vixen.

Robyn Lyn EvansWyn Pencarreg and Philip Smith perform in Welsh National Opera’s production of Roberto Devereux, directed by Alessandro Talevi and conducted by Carlo Rizzi and James Southall.

Robyn performs Lord Cecil, while understudying the title role, Wyn performs Sir Gualtiero Raleigh, and Philip makes his WNO debut as Nottingham’s Confidant, while understudying Raleigh.

Performances take place from 28 February at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, before touring until 10 May.

Wyn Pencarreg steps in at short notice to perform Roc in The Exterminating Angel for the premiere at the Royal Danish Opera. The production is directed by Tom Cairns and conducted by Robert Hossart.

Wyn performed the role of Padre Sansón in this production at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 2017. He is also currently performing Alcade in La forza del destino for Welsh National Opera.
