Following their performance of Harawi for the Oxford Lieder Festival last year with a glowing review in The Guardian by Fiona Maddocks, Gweneth Ann Rand and Simon Lepper made it into the Observer critics’ review of 2019 for the best classical music of the year.
They are delighted to be bringing Harawi to Wigmore Hall on 18 October to a socially distanced audience. The performance will also be streamed on the Wigmore Hall website and YouTube channel on the day of performance and for 30 days.
Gweneth Ann Rand and Keel Watson join an international cast to perform in Birmingham Opera Company’s immersive new community production of Wagner’s Das Rheingold, or RhineGold. Gwen, as Erda, and Keel, Fasolt.
The performances in summer 2021, directed by Graham Vick, with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alpesh Chauhan, will take place canal-side in the 100,000 sq ft The Tubeworks on Icknield Port Loop.
In his Czech debut Philip Sheffield performs Živný in Robert Carsen’s production of Osud at the Janáček Brno Festival, conducted by Marko Ivanović.
The premiere takes place on 28 September with further performances in October and November.
Trevor Eliot Bowes sings Benoît in English National Opera’s Drive & Live La bohème, opening at Alexandra Palace on 19 September. This stunning socially distanced production with the ENO Orchestra and Chorus is directed by PJ Harris and conducted by Martyn Brabbins and Chris Hopkins.

We are delighted that Samuel Pantcheff will return to the Salzburger Landestheater for the 2020/21 season, this follows the abrupt end to last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
His roles will include Kaluna in Paul Abraham’s Die Blume von Hawaii, Valentin in Faust, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte and Miles in the Austrian premiere of Stuart Macae’s Anthropocene.
Ailish Tynan makes her long anticipated to Grange Park Opera next season, for the first time since 2009, in her role debut as Mimì in La bohème.
A regular at Grange Park Opera, Olivia Ray returns as Anna Polikovskaya in the world premiere of Anthony Bolton’s The Life & Death of Alexander Litvinenko.
Ailish Tynan returns to Wigmore Hall on 17 June for a lunchtime concert with pianist Iain Burnside. Their wide-ranging programme includes arrangements of Irish songs by Herbert Hughes and Grieg’s stormy Six Songs. Their finale is a song that has recently become popular as an anthem to staff of the NHS working on the front line against the Coronavirus pandemic.
This concert at Wigmore Hall forms part of a series of lunchtime concerts every weekday in June, in collaboration with BBC Radio 3. Performed to a empty auditiorium, audience members can listen live on radio, or watch a live stream on the Wigmore Hall website.
Jeni Bern makes her debut at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo as Greta Fiorentino in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene.
The production, directed by John Fulljames and conducted by Lee Reynolds, premieres on 21 February for a limited run of three performances.
Ailish Tynan features on Airs from another planet, a new recording of chamber music and song by Judith Weir, with the Hebrides Ensemble. On this recording Ailish performs Weir’s song cycles Nuits d’Afrique and Really?
Nuits d’Afrique was conceived as a companion piece to Maurice Ravel’s Chansons madécasses, and was dedicated to Ailish when it was written in 2015, with the premiere at Wigmore Hall in 2017. She also performed these two song cycles on a concert tour with the Hebrides Ensemble earlier this year.

We are delighted that Samuel Pantcheff will join the Internationales Opernstudio Gerard Mortier at the Salzburger Landestheater for the 2019/20 season.
He will perform and cover numerous roles in Weber’s Oberon, Lohengrin, the Austrian premiere of Stuart Macae’s Anthropocene, Viva La Diva (Donizetti’s Le convenienze e le inconvenienze teatrali) and Haydn’s Creation.

With rehearsals for Welsh National Opera’s season only a few weeks away we are delighted to have several artists working on these productions.
Robyn Lyn Evans and Wyn Pencarreg appear in the third opera in David Pountney’s Verdi trilogy, Les vêpres siciliennes, Robyn performs Daniéli and Mainfroid, whilst covering Henri, and Wyn performs Le Sire de Béthune.
Richard Roberts will make his WNO debut as Don Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro.
Additionally, covers include Robyn as Il Duca and Claire Wild as Gilda in Rigoletto, with Wyn covering Escamillo in Carmen and Harašta in The Cunning Little Vixen.
Ailish Tynan joins the Royal Ballet for the world premiere of Medusa, a new ballet from choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Cherkaoui is the Artistic Director of Royal Ballet of Flanders and of his own company, Eastman, and is Associate Artist at Sadler’s Wells. Medusa is set to a mix of electronic music and songs by Purcell, sung by Ailish and countertenor Tim Mead, with the orchestra of the Royal Opera House.
Medusa is part of a triple bill featuring works also featuring Christopher Wheeldon’s Within the Golden Hour and Crystal Pite’s Flight Pattern.
Performances from 8 May, with a live cinema broadcast on 16 May.
We are delighted to announce that baritone Samuel Pantcheff has joined our roster. Samuel is a graduate of the Opera Course at the Royal Academy of Music where he studied with Glenville Hargreaves and Audrey Hyland, and won the Blythe-Buesst Opera Prize. He is also a Britten-Pears Young Artist and currently studies with Gary Coward.
In the current season Samuel makes his debut with Diva Opera as Prince Yamadori Madama Butterfly and Haly L’italiana in Algeri and returns to Scottish Opera as Pulcino BambinO on tour to Oman. Concerts include Handel’s Solomon at St John’s Smith Square and a programme of Scarlatti and Purcell on tour to South America with Sir John Eliot Gardiner.
Trevor Eliot Bowes makes his debut at Scottish Opera in their 2019/20 season as Theseus in a new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Dominic Hill and conducted by Stuart Stratford. Performances take place in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Robyn performs Lord Cecil, while understudying the title role, Wyn performs Sir Gualtiero Raleigh, and Philip makes his WNO debut as Nottingham’s Confidant, while understudying Raleigh.
Performances take place from 28 February at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, before touring until 10 May.
