Sarah Redgwick

Soprano

Born in Wakefield, Sarah Redgwick graduated with first class honours from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and completed her studies on the postgraduate Opera Course. A winner of the GSMD Gold Medal for singers, she is a Samling Artist, and has received awards from The Countess of Munster Trust, the Madeleine Finden Trust, the Sybil Tutton Trust and the Wingate Foundation.

Among her recent highlights are Mrs Morrell Silver Birch for Garsington Opera; Countess Almaviva in Dementia Friendly performances of Le nozze di Figaro for Scottish Opera; and concerts with the Manchester Camerata and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Her operatic roles include Violetta La traviata, Anna Intermezzo, Giannetta L’elisir d’amore, Pousette Manon, Mimì La bohème, Adele Die Fledermaus and Actor A Night at the Chinese Opera (all for Scottish Opera); Donna Elvira Don Giovanni (English National Opera); Marzelline Fidelio (Opera Holland Park, Oxford Philomusica, Scottish Opera); Nella Gianni Schicchi, Zerlina Don Giovanni; Susanna Le nozze di Figaro, Berta Il barbiere di Siviglia and Brigitta Iolanta (all for Opera Holland Park); Mrs Maurrant Street Scene (The Opera Group – Théâtre du Châtelet and Gran Teatre del Liceu); Errolynn Wallen’s Cautionary Tales (Latitude Festival); Frasquita Carmen and Zerlina Don Giovanni (Mid Wales Opera); Donna Elvira in Gazzaniga’s Don Giovanni (Bampton Classical Opera); Sidonie Armide (Buxton Festival); Despina Così fan tutte (Clonter Opera); Clorinda La Cenerentola (Welsh National Opera); Violetta La traviata (Opéra de Baugé); the Mahagonny Songspiel (BBC Kurt Weill Festival at the Barbican); and Second Playmate Der Zwerg (Opera North).

She has also covered Christine Intermezzo and Countess Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro (Scottish Opera); Giannetta The Gondoliers and the title role in Jenůfa (ENO); Ellen Orford Peter Grimes (Opera North); and Violetta La traviata (Welsh National Opera, ENO).

Sarah appears regularly in concert, her performances including Classics for Christmas (Raymond Gubbay at the Barbican, Bridgewater Hall and Preston Guildhall); B Minor Mass (Guildford Philharmonic Orchestra); J. S. Bach Magnificat and the world première of Rutti’s Stabat Mater (St John’s Smith Square); The Apostles (Eton College); Messiah (Philomusica and The Really Big Chorus); Nelson Mass (Portsmouth Cathedral); Mozart Mass in C Minor in (Wells Cathedral); the Mozart Requiem & Orff Carmina Burana (Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir); and Poulenc Gloria at the Farnham Maltings. She also was featured on STV’s The Royal Blind Scottish Royal Variety Performance as well as at PPG Acts in Barcelona.
